Tadpoles in Lily Pond

I gave my art class a lesson on tadpoles. I showed them how to draw tadpoles, then putting them in a lily/lotus pond environment. I also showed each student how to give a different treatment to the water in their picture. It never ceases to amaze me how there can be so many ways of accomplishing the look of water and how one subject can come out so different in the hands of different children.

the smell of wet asphalt, hedges, stepping on dry crunchy leaves, red brick walls, cool breezes on a warm day, the warmth of the sun on a cold day, writing my name into a new book, singing, the process of getting to know a person, paper, hand-written notes from friends, subtlety, being driven around (as opposed to driving), brown paper bags, blowing dandelions, my friends being happy, writing with a pencil, making people laugh, holding a warm mug when it is cold, drinking tea, sticking my face out the window of a moving car, being barefoot & in pajamas, the fact you've read this far.
