Komodo Dragon

I have been working part time at US Arts Center for about half a year now teaching kids art. It is great fun interacting with the kids and helping them grow artistically. They all have such different personalities and they say the darnedest things! I'll be sharing more with you in the future the things I hear them say and the things I see them create.

Here is what a student of mine finished last week. He drew this komodo dragon from a photo and added his own background. Look at all the details! So proud of him. (And by the way, he's 7!)

the smell of wet asphalt, hedges, stepping on dry crunchy leaves, red brick walls, cool breezes on a warm day, the warmth of the sun on a cold day, writing my name into a new book, singing, the process of getting to know a person, paper, hand-written notes from friends, subtlety, being driven around (as opposed to driving), brown paper bags, blowing dandelions, my friends being happy, writing with a pencil, making people laugh, holding a warm mug when it is cold, drinking tea, sticking my face out the window of a moving car, being barefoot & in pajamas, the fact you've read this far.
