I received the Early Spring Urban Outfitters
catalog a few weeks ago and loved the sailor hat that appeared throughout its front pages. They reminded me of the Renoir painting
Dancing at the Moulin de la Galette of people in similar straws and stripes, evoking the sensuality of sitting in the lazy warmth of the sun and feeling at once the cool of the shade.
I like the juxtaposition. It either confirms that there is nothing new under the sun or affirms that classics don’t get old and will always be the source of inspiration for new things.
