Today I went to the FOB and I don't mean "Fresh off the Boat." I mean the Festival of Books at UCLA. It was pretty exciting just being some place so high energy, but it did not meet my expectations. I guess I was hoping it'd be a great big book store with a huge selection of all kinds of books imaginable at great great prices. Instead I was surprised by all the random vendors and all the self-published authors trying to peddle their pet projects (though that'll probably be me in the future). I want for the festival to be better screened and organized.
Of course, there were many upsides to today. I was able to make a run to Diddy Riese--still such a great price! I got to spend the day with my favorite peeps. I also had the sweet realization that many people still love books and reading. So tell me: What are you reading?
I am currently reading Eat, Pray, Love by Elizabeth Gilbert.
ReplyDeleteI am reading Dallas Willard's "Hearing God" and will soon read Sittser's "Water from a Deep Well", all the SF classics.
